Land Investment

"Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; 

but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting." 

- Galatians 6:7-8

As I was searching for a verse  to put up on the fridge for our regular weekend scripture we ponder as a family, I followed a few footnotes and was intrigued by these phrases found in Galatians.

"For he that soweth to his flesh"

or

"He that soweth to the Spirit"

What does it mean to sow to our own flesh or sow to the Spirit? It means that in our daily, moment by moment choices, whether we realize it or not... we are making regular deposits into one account or the other, into the land of "the flesh" or the land of "the Spirit"... And...In the end, we will reap what we have sown. 

Which land are we drawn to most for our investments?

"Our own flesh" = choices motivated to promote ourselves, save our own face, self-centered thoughts and behavior and no self-control, prideful, vain, boastful, jealous envious, gossipy, concerned more with image than integrity, greed, and so on.

"To the Spirit" = choices motivated to sincerely care for and help others (especially family), a land beyond our self, a land of spiritual matters, a land of strong and personal testimony, a land focused on the things that matter most where moth nor rust can corrupt, a land invested in things you can't buy in this world: loving trust-based relationships, an honorable and inspiring life, not self-promoting but God-promoting; one who is dedicated to spending all their gifts God has given them (time, talents, strengths) to bringing souls to Christ - to bear one another's burdens, mourn with those that mourn, and comfort those who stand in need of comfort.
