The Tragic Case of the Broken Water Heater

This week we had a miracle: our investigator, Eduardo, was baptized yesterday! We met him at the beginning of the transfer, and since then he kept all his commitments, and yesterday he was able to make his first Covenant with God through baptism. It was so cool to see another person so willing and ready to change his life in such a way. All the members were super excited, and welcomed him well! Everything went as planned.

Except for one thing...

So, recently temperatures have been dropping down to the 40s and 50s, and when we filled up the baptismal font on Saturday, we had high hopes that everything would work out with the temperature of the water. Upon arriving at church on Sunday, we discovered that the water heater was broken! Ô glória.

When Eduardo stepped in the freezing water, we thought he would back out right then and there, but he entered in all the way and was willing dunked into the icy water. 

That was our biggest miracle for the week.

Other little things that happened were the following:

Without knowing anything about it, I planned for us to work in a neighborhood called Jardim Primavera yesterday night. What I didn't know about this neighborhood is that it's notorious for drug dealing. Well, Sister Lima only recognized the area once we were there, but by then it was too late to mess with our plans. We decided that the angels around us would be enough to make the necessary visits. That appeared to be the case because nothing happened to us even though, as we were walking around, the police were driving around actively looking for someone (you know, passing groups of people, shining a bright light in their faces and demanding that they identify themselves). Normal things.

But it was a miracle.

We also traveled to Porto Ferreira this past week to do a blitz. We were supposed to be helping the Elders from the area of Porto Ferreira B. But when we got there with the Elders from Pirassununga, we discovered that the companionship wasn't even there! They had gone to Pirassununga for a doctor's appointment. Fortunately, the Elders from Porto Ferreira A were there, so they let us into the church, but when the time for the blitz came, it was completely disorganized. So, that was fun.

But that's the gist of this week. We have transfers on Friday, so we'll see what the situation is this next week.
