Week 9 of Hortolândia- 1st Area - Pictures!!

 

It was so good to talk with Miriam this morning. She's doing much better than she was last week. It's been very hard but she plows ahead and keeps going! We're so proud of her! 

She spent most of the conversation asking us for updates from us. However, she shared that Sister Brown got bit in the butt by a dog this past week. 😬  Apparently, there are stray dogs everywhere in that city - so getting bit is not uncommon. I imagine they need to watch their step quite often too. 💩

A far more concerning situation though, was when two sister missionaries who are part of the Piracicaba Mission were robbed at gunpoint just a couple weeks ago. Needless to say, those sisters have been moved to a new safer area and replaced with Elders.

"◇ We visited a reference of the system these past weeks - Paulo and his wife Elbia - and taught a little lesson on the Book of Mormon with them. By the time we had finished, he was quite excited to visit with us again and invited us to a churrasco Sunday. Sadly we didn't end up going because he planned it during lunch when we eat with the sisters in the ward

◇We had another lesson with Adilma this week and I think we're finally making progress with her. This whole time we've been working with her, we haven't been able to figure out what it is she really needs. Well, this past lesson, we got on the subject of mothers, and we showed her the video Motherhood: An Eternal Partnership With God. Finally something hit home with her; for the first time during a lesson, she got emotional. We're getting somewhere, guys. Keep her in your prayers!

Seeing that it's been two weeks since my last email, 

I have gathered together some pictures to share with everyone.

Vania; she's currently a nurse, she once owned a bakery, and she raised and tamed lions.

I got to try a guava milkshake, pastel, pure sugar cane juice, and chicken heart with a garlic sauce  

◇this past Saturday we got to participate in a Helping Hands project! We went to a school to fix it up. Sister Casperson and I spent 8 or so hours helping repaint the playground. It was extremely fun (and very hot because we were in straight sun the entire time)
