Instrumental Lives

When Alma was reunited with the sons of Mosiah after 14 years of missionary service, he “did rejoice exceedingly to see his brethren; and what added more to his joy, they were still his brethren in the Lord. (Alma 17:2)

I love Alma Chapter 17! I love the description of this brotherhood, of these missionaries who were united in heart, mind, and purpose.  It reminds me of the new BYU President, Kevin J. Worthen's, talk that he gave in January this year on friendship. He said, "Heaven is other people. Heaven will be heaven because of the other people who will be there. And experiencing heaven on earth will ultimately depend, to a large degree, on the quality of our relationships with others."

This morning, after my scripture study, I found a great talk by Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin entitled, Valued Companions.  It too confirmed these same principles.

Ultimately... "Of course, our best friends are those with whom we live as members of our family. Loving parents, brothers and sisters, children, and the extended family help to shape our destiny. " - Joseph B. Wirthlin

"It's like a symphony
Just keep listening
And pretty soon you'll start
To figure out your part
Everyone plays a piece
And there are melodies
In each one of us
Oh it's glorious"
