"You Can't Close My Heart"
Have you ever heard of The Freeze? Members of the church in Ghana were banned by their own government from gathering in meetinghouses and missionaries were kicked out. If they were caught, some were arrested for trying to hold sacrament meeting in their home. This ban lasted 18 months from June,1989 to Nov. 1990. This was not a restriction God-imposed but one of man, even still... there was so much good that came out of it. One brother in this story said something he learned that I'll never forget, "You can close my mouth, but you can't close my heart."
I am inspired by the numerous blessings born of the trials and heartache they went through; Opportunities were expanded, they experience greater unity, stronger conversion, and a depth of appreciation for the simple gifts of the Gospel.
I know with all my heart that if we stay fixed and focused on our Savior, the very things that hurt the greatest and cut the deepest will cause the best things to grow.
